In the manufacturing technology of granite cutting segment, the selection of the material composition of the diamond segments and the hot pressing process are the most critical links. 

Co-based and bronze-based alloys are widely used as carcass raw materials, but they cannot achieve a good balance between manufacturing cost and performance. 

Fe-Ni-Cu-W series alloy was proposed as the raw material of cutter head body through water analysis. After experiment and application, a relatively ideal balance of manufacturing cost and performance was obtained.

The manufacturing process of the diamond segment can be described as the sintering process of metal powder under a certain pressure, which is a powder metallurgy process: the uniform mixed metal powder is heated at high temperature (800-1000°C) and under a certain pressure (180-  250Kgf/cm2), through a series of physical and chemical effects such as diffusion, welding, compounding, and recrystallization among powder particles, a sintered body with a certain shape and mechanical properties is formed.
